Some FAQ for the Sony PXW FS7

The Mic Holder on my Sony PXW-FS7 is broken. Where can I get a replacement?

Through us actually. The Mic holder on the FS7 is one of it’s weak points…literally. The design and manufacture of this is not great and over the years we have had to replace many units, to the point that we have now started to provide an alternative, sturdier option for a mic holder in place of the original design. But should you need to purchase an original replacement for your unit, you can do that through us. We can order them in usually by next working day if stock is available.

Which Camera should I choose, the Canon C300mkii or the Sony FS7?

The answer of this question is always ultimatley down to you the shooter. When we are asked this question we point out each cameras Pros and see which is more suited to your needs. The FS7’s two big selling points is the Slow-Mo capability and the ergonomic design which both suprpass the C300mkii. The Canon does have the superior built quality and durability (we had a mki survive a building fall on one). That’s how robust the Canon’s are. But if Slow-Mo is not a major factor, then it’s about which camera you feel most comfortable with. The FS7 is E mount native but a Metabones adapter can easily change you to the Canon EF mount which the majority of our clients do. If you are ever caught in two minds, you can always come and try out both cameras with us at our office.
